Transdisciplinary Research along the Logic of Empowerment: Perspectives from Four Urban and Regional Transformation Projects

Transformative research requires transdisciplinary collaboration, forcing researchers out of their disciplinary comfort zones. In projects, the role (social) scientists changes, and non-scientific actors become part projects. Transdisciplinary is particularly suited to not only generate scientific knowledge, but also invent real-world solutions innovative. This, however, does come without challenges. Implementing a project time-consuming alignment both impact ambitions all partners. this paper we build upon experiences gained in four projects ask: (1) What approach followed by project? (2) Which opportunities challenges can be identified for successful collaborations? (3) rationale engaging from perspective social scientists? Building logics interdisciplinary, fourth logic, called logic empowerment, as driver research. collaboration empowers ‘discover’ innovations, i.e., invent, implement, innovate.
